The getaway failed when they tried to run through different sides of a power pole. The duo broke away from custody while awaiting their court hearing in the Hastings District. They managed to run across a street towards a car park, where they crashed into a power pole on the sidewalk. Police used pepper spray to subdue them. Both accused each other for the failed attempt. The pair is expected to appear before local court again today.
